I find this really sad

Everywhere you go there are "idiots" who are willing to throw their lives away on what others determine are meaningless diversions. Generally, too much of any one thing in your life is bad. But, at worst he seems naive, careless, and a slacker. At least he isn't getting drunk and high, and beating on his wife and kid.

Maybe some day (when he reaches the ripe old age of 20) he'll wake up and figure it out.
