Yes -- he was extra strong/fire enchanted (at least the original one was -- the other Korlics spawned with various random mods).
However, since my life was only 738, it's not surprising that he could one-hit kill me (though I'm not sure he actually leap-attacked my character -- he may have killed my while he was frozen in place as Talic and Madawc also seem to do sometimes).
