Do you see any mention of the counter study, the one that noted how excessive use of "Healing" spells will, over time, bring the aging process to a screeching halt and encourage the body to regenerate itself? No, you don't, and most adventurers make at LEAST as much use of such magics as they do healing potions. The use of short-sighted, sloppily done studies is yet ANOTHER attempt by the Forces of Evil™ to discourage the adventuring profession thereby ensuring the takeover of the world (and/or worlds) as we know it.
It's just evil blowing smoke. I wouldn't worry too much about it, especially when a far more dire problem plagues us: the lack of "Rags" (and thus TFoS) as an equippable set of armor in most non-D1 RPGs! Do bums, beggars and hobos go about naked in these games?! A disturbing issue that must be dealt with with all immediacy!
