I would say it´s worth playing... games like 3 humans vs 5 comps can be fun even for experienced players. Blizzard did a good job on that one.
BTW, is there an RTS with a AI that is worth playing? :P
But I agree with you, RTS games are made for MP. No AI in the world can replace a human opponent.
