I found your moral quandary to be quite the talking point of my car ride yesterday. Seems discussions like these are all the rage in my sons college, but the conversation quickly turned towards intent. Of course creators of said software would eventually include a clause to, in situations as you proposed, force the car to avoid *them* in particular. This is inevitable (like the original Robocop being unable to kill the acting CEO). Once members of congress or other very influential people got wind, you bet that particular programming would creep into all cars, perhaps becoming such a common practice as to be entered into law for the "protection" and longevity of our country. Maybe not now, but in 100years, I can practically guarantee it! Anyway, interesting conversation starter Bolty; much thanks to you!
