This is a misconception that is very widely spread. Cuba isn't, and never has been, Communist - nor can it be. Nor was the Soviet Union, China, or Vietnam. Communism is a classless/stateless society and is internationalist by design, therefore there hasn't been and cannot be any such thing as a "Communist country". Basically if these three conditions are not met, it aint Communist. Cuba is an example of State Socialism (or State Capitalism depending on who you ask) - a system that is actually rejected by a majority of the Communist movement both today and yesteryear, save Leninists.
