I think your assumption is wrong here... ( note that I'm not arguing about your opinions, just disagreeing with the assumption that most people play Realms)

IIRC (from a survey done last year), more than 90% of the people buying Blizzard games never log on Battle.net.

Now, I agree that most people still interested in D2 and hence potential 1.10 "customers" (but not all people) are probably playing on the Realms.
