Quote:"Tonight I have a fresh new band the Boxmasters, who you would have never heard about if it weren't for their drummer, actor, director, screen writer, Billy Bob Thornton".
Which to most people I can safely bet, is the case.
Quote: In defense of Jian Ghomeshi, BBT is truly eccentric (the nice word for "crazy"), and truly is a unique character.
I sometimes listen to the show, and occasionally, Ghomeshi himself IMO, can sound like a pompous douchebag. IIRC, Ghomeshi was in a band called Moxy Fruvous, and was a drummer\singer himself. You'd think with those common background the two could've talked more shop.
In this particular case though, I don't see Ghomeshi out of line for mentioning that yes, BBT is not unknown because of Hollywood, and chances are most people might connect Thornton with acting and movies first, and not necessarily music.
So Thornton might not like that more people probably know him for his movies, and not his music. But that's the way it is. General public perception might not match his own perception of himself. Wow, imagine that. Get in line Thornton, you're not the first and you won't be the last. See previous alumnis, Leonard 'Spock' Nimoy who is also an author and photographer, Billy Dee 'Lando Colt 45 the coolest cat in the Galaxy Far Far Away' Williams who was and is a painter.
And it wasn't like Gomeshi was going on and on about his movies, at best it was a blurb at the end of the intro. I mean this http://www.reporternews.com/news/2008/jul/...y-night-lights/
had a lot more reference to his acting career. Maybe it was the Canadian straw that broke his back.
But whatever, if nothing else I now have a new potential catch-phrase inspired by Billy Bob's antics. 'Here comes the gravy!'
