Alright here it goes:
For the record, I do believe this is a bug and should go under The Maggots Lair, but I'm in the mood to bitch about it so :P.
I just lost a level 64 paladin in nightmare act 2 to some scarab beetles. The strange thing is I helped two friends in a 6ppl game the day before through all of act two with 45% light resist and was barely scratched. Now this time, I had 75% light resist and could not take more than 1 light bolt without loosing half my life, from any of the scarab beetles. My weapon was not switched, my gear was not changed, yet it was as if I had on no gear whatsoever. This is NOT the first time I have lost a character this way, and suffice it to say, not the first time I have seen others die in this fashion. One was a level 74 amazon with over 700 health get dropped in one hit in nightmare cows, another time a paladin in river of flame, another time a barbarian to the catapult shots right before frigid plains. I have no doubt whatsoever that this is an undocumented bug in the game, but have no way of proving it or reproducing it, save for the experience of me and a select few others. Each time, I'd say the gear our characters was wearing was, for whatever reason, not being properly calculated for the entire game. We all died withing minutes of entering games, so it wasn't an effect that kicked in later, but was present during game creation.
My rant? I just lost a level 64 paladin with all of my best gear (a freekin sigons full set - have had NO luck finding good gear this season) for something that was not my fault. I pride myself in Hardcore of never dying the same way twice (if it can be helped), telling others that's how you learn, but what do I say now? I'm so mad and I died yesterday, and I'm mostly mad because it wasn't my fault; I didn't die to fire explosion, I didn't die to being cursed, or anything I might of overlooked; I died from a bug very few others have seen before with no way of getting my character back. Oh well, who said life (or death in this case) is fair?
