I blame alt-itis) is a hunter, but mostly I'm just used to more location context information from my minimap. I think part of the problem is that it contains too much color detail; the D2 minimap which just showed edges and objectives was great in that way.
Of course, if those are the things that you're having trouble seeing, then I'd recommend bongos to enlarge the map. It's very easy to use and not really memory intensive in my experience.:)
