How much memory can Windows XP handle?

Are you running 64 bit windows? 32 bit operating systems can only deal with 2 GB of RAM at a time (though some 32 bit systems still support more than 2 GB of memory, and I will point out I don't entirely understand all the limitations). On a 32 bit system, more than 2 GB is the very least supposed to have very sharp diminishing returns.

You're inviting it, and in some ways delighting in it. It's not accidental or coincidental. You're choosing it. You have to realize you've made choices."
