Blizzard's background downloader

Appearantly Blizzard has with the latest patch added an (undocumented?) downloader that works in the background downloading stuff (seems like patches in advance or stuff like that). Here is a post on their technical forum if you need/want to disable it for any reason:

I am sorry to say that I do not fully trust their disabler, so I have chosen to block it with my firewall. I do not recall reading that they were installing it in the 1st place. Perhaps it was hidden deep within the new EULA. Or perhaps, to be generous, I just missed the announcement.
