Thank you for the great sites so far, everyone! My judicial research work is getting done at a slower pace than you can possibly imagine.
:P

One of my honorable mentions:
Dark Passage - urban exploration, abandoned asylums, steam tunnels, etc.

Oh, oh, I know! Because he's frequently and inexcusably late posting his strips, which are banal and pointless? Yeah, I think I'm right. That "strip" has stories that drag on for months, damn near years, without actually going anywhere, with an author that is just as sad as his digital/artistic representation of himself. I've never read so much whining, except for in 14-year-old high school kids' blogs.

The fact that "Piro" got rid of the co-creator and took over the whole show to make a sappy Manga just irritates the hell out of me. It occurred to me that, as soon as "Largo" was booted (he didn't leave, he was kicked out), it became a humour-less sap fest that is a poor attempt at co-opting Japanese culture. This guy isn't even close to Japanese; a pretender, a phony, an imposter, a counterfeit, a fake!! He's just an old white guy who has watched too many Anime videos. Don't get me started on his girlfriend, "Seraphim"...

He's good at what he does, if what he does is whine for very very long periods of time and draw woefully unfinished "comics". I've seen much more polished and finished drawings elsewhere, for example, machall.com. Ok, so they're a bad example, since they're even worse at meeting the time schedule than Piro is...

I gave up on MegaTokyo long ago. It's his full-time job now, so you'd think he'd be better at it. As far as I'm concerned, he can continue pissing off his fans with delays and fake-strips and excuses all he wants. I should have left it behind as soon as Largo was booted, but I didn't realize what had happened for a few weeks afterward.

I respect greatly those webcomic artists that say, "I will post a picture monday to friday" or whatever terms the decide on, and actually do it. Penny-Arcade is the best example of this. It's their job, they do these comics for a living, and when they say, Monday-Wednesday-Friday they put the comics up on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. I can understand when it's a hobby, like the MacHall guys, where it's just something to do in your free time, it doesn't matter all that much that they miss a strip here and there. But for someone doing it as their job, it's just plain inexecusable.

Why would anyone need anything but the Lounge?

Seriously, my daily stops that haven't been mentioned already (8-Bit Theater) include

Sluggy Freelance

and The Site That Brought Doom Upon The Lounge And Shall Not Be Named.
At first I thought, "Mind control satellites? No way!" But now I can't remember how we lived without them.

Acts of Gord - it'll keep you reading for hours.
And the comic to go with it

Computer stupidities & Stupid things that people have said.

I know some people around here hate this site - but I still think that it's cool, even if they did /. the lounge a few months ago. Go negative karma!

http://maddox.xmission.com Somebody already linked to this but failed to mention Maddox's name. The self described 'Best Page in the Universe' has been running for years, fuelled by people who hate him. I find some of his political views quite logical however.

http://www.spellsandwhistles.net A link to this site was on http://www.cad-comic.com (ctrl alt del) and although he hasn't updated in nearly 3 weeks, its first 40 or so comics are funny for people who have played an Infinity engine games. (webcomic)

http://s88432259.onlinehome.us/flash/satellite.swf I found this in an older thread here in the Lounge and I listen to it whenever I open my web browser.

By the way, how do you save a *.swf to your hard drive?

http://www.ebaumsworld.com if you're on broadband the videos are pretty funny.

http://www.domainarun.com/sounds/mentos.mp3 Don't go to my actual website I messed it up so it would 'work' in safari and I can't correct It cuz i'm on 56k mac now :( but yea if i'm not listening to 'Satellite' I'm listening to mentos.

http://www.fuitadnet.com Start your own website! It's fun! only 5 dollars a month!

http://www.slashdot.org Geek news.

http://www.gamespot.com if your big on the gaming scene, there is lots of news here, mostly for free.

http://www.spacecrime.net Lots of friends play this although I never have. Its like one of those text-based Javascript games.

http://www.bawls.com If you've never had these before then yea... make some plans for the night because you won't be sleeping.

Edit:

http://www.battle.net They've turned 'trolling' (new word :)) into an art form on these forums. Can be very funny.

Haha! http://s88432259.onlinehome.us/ is my webhost.

To save a *.swf to your hard drive, just browse your temporary internet folders and copy the file. Alternatively, you can view the source HTML of the website offerring the the file and download it directly.

There is an easier way. This is how I just did it in Firefox but I'm fairly sure that each of the major browsers has a similar facility for doing it.

Under the Tools menu, pick Page Info. This gives you another box with several tabs. Choose Media. This will give you a list of the elements that make up the page. Scroll down to the one you want. Click on it to select it and then click on Save As and you will be prompted for the save info. Voila!
