When to do the ancients?

With the hard limit of only one level up for the quest reward for killing the ancients, when earliest one should do it for maximum exp gained? Obviously, the later the better due to exp penalties and whatnot, but I'm impatient.

norm - 1.4 mill
nm - 20 mill
hell - 40 mill

How would that translate to a maximum of one level up? Google wasn't much help in finding me a chart.

So the min level to get the full exp bonus happens one level sooner, so from Ralph's numbers, that's 36/66/74.
