I was testing a SS pally yesterday, with Holy Shield slvl 18, and noticed something curious: The defense rate was above 6k :huh:
The shield screen showed the expected defense bonus, and when I removed the shield the defense rate, on the stats screen, turned from blue to white showing a defense rate a little above 1k. Later I found a skill temple, and after hitting it the defense rate went above 9k :blink:
I'm curious if this is the screen, a bug, or a new feature.

Generally, readmes for patches list the major bugs they fixed, not the major bugs they introduce ;). So I'd think the change is intentional.

I agree. Besides the fact that with no blocking while in block frame animation something should help the poor pally.

I thought this was planned, and not a bug. I'm at collage atm, but check the patch changes link on b net, I'm pretty sure that the skill now increases your overall defence rather than just the shield defence. Might be worth checking... :P

I was just checking the Patch Changes Readme and it's listed under

so Blizzard only knows.

This was listed under "Major Bugs" because it was a fix to a major bug. If you look at the 58 other items listed under "Major Bugs" and the 26 under "Minor Bugs", you will notice that they are all fixes, and not just bug reports. There isn't much room for second guessing here, and I think Holy Shield's new defense bonus is most likely here to stay.
0% on that page is a list of current bugs, it's all a list of changes. i can't see why there needs to be any discussion on it..
