Attack Rating VS Ignore Target's Defense - Seta Sojiro - 03-24-2004

If I have Ignore Target's Defense, would my attack rating affect the to hit calculations?

An example right now is my Shock Paladin. I'm keeping Zeal at level 4 because I plan on getting Crescent Moon on a phase blade. I have to keep my AR high to hit with Zeal right now. But, when I get Crescent Moon, it comes with ITD, Will any added AR help afterwards?

The formula for hitting a target is:

2 * (attacker_level / (attacker_level + defender_level)) * (attacker_AR / (attacker_AR + defender_DR)

ITD would essentially drop the last term (because it reduces to 1), which would mean that hitting monsters relies on the level differential between you and whatever it is you're attacking. So in that sense, AR means nothing.

However, ITD does not work on Act bosses, Superuniques, and unique bosses. It also doesn't work against other players and their mercs. In this case, AR becomes a factor again because the latter term of the above equation comes back into play.
