So I just got to hell for the first time in 1.10, and I'm seeing games now and then called 'The Pit' runs. I've also seen 'the pit' mentioned on some threads.
Are you talking about the cave in the Tamoe Highlands? Is it good xp, or good items, or what?

The Pit is one of the level 85 areas. That means the normal monsters there are mlvl 85, the highest of any normal monsters. That means good experience and good items.

Which is better, Pit runs, or Meph runs?

Different runs for different reasons. Meph will drop more sets and uniques, but you can get weapons and armor of higher treasure classes from the pit. For instance, you are much more likely to get something like the Shako (Harlequin Crest) from Meph, but he can never drop a Windforce or Grandfather.
