Hell's bells, just when I thought I had seen it all.

This is the stuff of nightmares.

Woah.

After saying "don't Google Image this" I just had to do it, Doc. Pretty amazing stuff. I must say that it's pretty incredible all the different ways creatures evolve for propagating their species.

Oh for cripes sake - jahcs - 03-27-2006

"Fines range from 35 cents to a live goat."

If that line doesn't make you realize some parts of the world operate differently from others, nothing will.

I found the fight against the traditional medicine and behavior of the victims to be as telling and intriguing as the fight against the worms themselves.

Oh for cripes sake - Mithrandir - 03-27-2006

I just had a funny image of a couple Guinea worms sitting at the bar, sharing a couple beers and discussing the way humans multiply the species...

Worm2: "Wait. They do what? Gross dude."
Worm1: "Yeah, I would not recommend Goggle-Imaging it either."

Oh for cripes sake - Crusader - 03-27-2006

"Ignorance is Bliss"

...especially for Guinea worms. :P

Oh for cripes sake - NiteFox - 03-27-2006

Hmm, I've always suspected that evolution simply hates mankind, and now we have more proof and none to the contrary.

Thanks, Doc.

How long till we see face huggers and chest bursters?

Ahhhh F*CK!!

Griselda, do your thing. (To both mine and his please.)

Deebye, I like you , but that was the most disgusting thing I've ever seen.

Oh for cripes sake - jahcs - 03-27-2006

Heh, this is the internet, and as a mod here once stated "Click at your own risk" - especially in a thread like this one

Although I would like more of a warning in the titles of said links.

At first I thought it was some freakish Nature channel clip -- then I saw the terarium.

Holy mother of puppies and kittens, that thing is a PET!!!

Oh for cripes sake - Doc - 03-27-2006

Does the Lounge really need a NSFL (not safe for lunch) rating system?

I am so looking forward to this movie. The cool thing about this movie as advertised is that even if it's bad, it'll be awesome.

Kinda like the Snakes on a Plane internet phenomenon.

I have to agree with [wcip]Angel's reaction about these. Like Jahcs I thought it was a nature clip too, until further into the video. Good lord, an 8 inch centipede that can eat a mouse in only a few minutes? I thought my skin crawled badly when I saw a cockroach in my apartment - the idea of running into one of those centipedes gives me chills.

Cheers,

Munk

That one scene in King Kong scared the crap out of me.

I don't mind small insects, but I absolutely hate the freakishly huge ones.

Oh for cripes sake - Any1 - 03-28-2006

I can't even imagine the horror and pain of having one of these things burning its way out your eye or ear. **shudder** It's right out of Dante's Inferno. On second thought, I don't remember anything this horrid in Dante's Trilogy.

Oh for cripes sake - BruceGod - 04-05-2006

You might be scared of a big centipede, until you remember one simple law of Nature: You are roughly 8 times as large as an eight-inch centipede. So just squish the bugger.

Edit: The thing posted before I finished typing everything.

Could I just hit it with a stick instead? Good point BruceGod.

Cheers,
