This makes me nostalgic about my youth in that bastion of freedom formerly called the USSR. We sang songs like that about Lenin and Brezhnev. Now, little American kids can enjoy the same open minded policies and views as kids of my generation behind the Iron curtain did. I love it!

The issue appears to be nomenclature, nothing but semantic smoke and mirrors. As soon as you call something a "czar", well huzzah, it's a "czar." At least according to the White House, many of the positions that Republicans are now complaining about as "czars" are exactly the same as positions Bush had, but were not at the time called "czars".
Since there's no badge, secret initiation, pay raise, or unique hairstyle for being a "czar", it's really kind of a muddle who is or isn't one. But when you have an anti-Obama campaign whose predetermined conclusion is that Obama is a totalitarian who wants to take power from "the people" (the people being defined mostly as the Tea Party crowd), suddenly everyone in the administration from the dog catcher to the janitor gets "czar" appended to their title - even ones where Obama had nothing to do with their appointment.

Is this an attempt at satire? Most of those songs, such as the "Change We Can Believe In-Song", are purely meant to be inspirational and don't even mention Obamas name. Furthermore, they're message is positive: we need to change the way we do things because the way we do things is unhealthy. I see nothing wrong with that. The message can be applied on a personal level to our social and/or spiritual lives, or be about the environmental awareness. It's telling people - the youth who will shape this nation in the future - that they need to stop being so goddamn selfish and wake up, to see that their actions have consequences... and value! That they can change the future for the better. That everyone counts. Damn good message if you ask me. And none of the songs are asking people to compromise their values, quite the contrary, they ask that we respect one another.
Awhile back, thanks to Fox News, I had a genuine fear that Obama might be trying to control our youths by brainwashing them. You see, after reading on Fox News about a speech that was to be given to students in schools by Obama supposedly glorifying himself and telling students to follow him, and then saw the hysteria this caused - some parents I know pulled their kids out of school that day, and then I actually got a chance to read a transcript of what was said, well it really makes me believe that there is a group of people simply out to "get Obama" at any cost. "Damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead!" So far, everything I have seen or heard that students of any grade level have expressed regarding Obama has been nothing but positive. And its not just our youth, but there is some real B.S. misinformation being spread out to the mass about what Obama does, and I don't say this lightly - I was a McCain supporter for crying outloud! I feel like I can't even enter a room without some paranoid person spouting out some piece of misinformation. It's frustrating, and even I was suckered into it once upon a time. Now I try and get my facts from multiple sources and read up on what everybody is getting so worked up about before running my mouth. I wish others would do the same.

Caesar (pronounced Kaee-zar in classical Latin) => Kaiser (Holy Roman Emperor, etc.) => Tzar (A good job for bad men) => Czar (A bad job).

Wikipedia at least cites the source, and why they should be included in the list. Their criteria are;
* A member or members of the media have identified and/or "coined" the czar position in a citable publication (citable per Wikipedia policies).
* The czar position holder (the individual i.e. John or Jane Doe) is appointed specifically by the U.S. President and/or other high level executive branch office holders (i.e. Treasury Secretary, Homeland Security Secretary, etc.) to champion the particular cause related to the representative czar position.
Afterthought: Also, isn't this a bit like comparing who slept with the fewer harlots? I never said Bush was the saintly model of Presidential leadership. I would say the same about Executive orders, abuse of power is abuse of power no matter who practices it, or what political party they represent.

Who double checks their work?Obviously not you, because they give their criteria quite clearly, and they are pretty much the same as you are claiming for the Wiki article. They give their list with citations - every name is a link. I linked to the list at the bottom of my post. Go over it again, and tell me exactly which twenty-or-so of those "czars" shouldn't be on the list - without similar logic knocking them off Obama's list.
Edit: So, funniest thing about that list on wikipedia... it bears an eerie similarity to the Factcheck.org list. In fact, it practically *is* the Factcheck.org list! Someone's just hacked up the list totals to display the wrong numbers - if you actually go and count them in the list, the numbers are basically as Factcheck.org reported them. Oops!
And as for Factcheck.org vs. Wikipedia, on a hot-button current-affairs issue where inclusion criteria are dubious at best, Factcheck is the far better site. I love wikipedia, but this is an article that plays directly to all of its weaknesses. The discussion page is ample evidence of how much of a mess this article is.

However, I don't remember you taking this line of attack with Bush - but it comes up constantly in discussions about Obama, even ones that have nothing to do with executive power.
