Druid Epic Flight forms, and new quest hubs only a flying lvl 70 can get to...

Quote:The 2.1.0 patch and the opening of the now defiled Black Temple, home of Illidan and his minions has long been known. However, the patch is also introducing a great deal of new solo and 5-person content as well, with new rewards, factions, and items. As we're approaching the release of the patch we wanted to share a glimpse into some of the upcoming content that hadn't yet been confirmed for this next patch, or hadn't even been known of until now.

Druid Epic Flight Form

The Druid Epic flight form will be available through a series of quests, similar to the Warlock and Paladin Epic mount quests before it. This quest series will also open up a new boss in Sethekk Halls, and ultimately to the epic flight form.

Ethereum Prison

Players in good standing with the Consortium will be tasked to deal with the most recent activities of the nefarious Ethereum. With new quests, items, and content for the solo and small-group level 70 player, the Ethereum Prison will be the proving grounds for many aspiring to greatness.

Skettis

The Skyguard, Sha'tari warriors specializing in their command of the skies above Shattrath, have taken the offensive directly to the Arakkoa capital city, Skettis. Perched high in the mountains of Terrokar, and only accessible with use of a flying mount, Skettis holds new and exciting content for the solo or small-group level 70 player. All new quests, 5-person bosses, rare and epic items, and a new type of flying mount await those willing to lend their sword or stave to the battle.

Nether Drake

The Netherwing faction and quest line continues and the long awaited Nether Drake becomes available. The Nether Drake is a special 280% speed epic flying mount that is obtainable through solo and small-group play. The quest to obtain one will be difficult, but the reward will surely show your dedication to the Netherwing cause as you soar through the skies of Outland on your very own ethereal drake.

Ogri'la

The Ogre plateau of enlightenment opens to those who prove their worth in Blade's Edge Mountains. Level 70 players will be able to help the Ogres of Ogri'la battle invading forces and engage in new and exciting quests, such as a repeatable and ever popular bombing-run, this time using your own flying mount but with a dangerous twist! Featuring tons of new quests, the Ogri'la faction, 5-person bosses, and rare and epic items, Ogri'la is a place we're hoping all will aspire to enter.

Skettis is, in fact, in the game right now. It's these "Skyguard" blokes who are missing! I hope there are some BE Sha'tari. Half the reason I went scryer with my druid was to get away from the goody-goody Draenei.

Ethereum Prison and Ogri'la both sound like you'll need to be keyed somehow to access them...
Are these instances? Instanced cities? Or what?

edit: added longer commentary to make more sense.

Now that's scary. Blizzard throws out hundred hour repeatable quests as casually as Rockefeller handing out dimes. If they are saying this will require "dedication", I imagine it will make the notorious frostsaber grind look like a walk in the park.

They're listing "5-person bosses" and don't mention instances so I'd guess these are all outdoor zones, not instances. Probably a mix of quested (no loot, pick your quest reward) and random stat BOE droppers. Still nice to see.

Ogri'la sounds like the area above Sylvanar in Blade's Edge - it's currently somewhat populated, and I believe I saw some empty Ogre buildings up there.

Which leaves me wondering where would Ethereum prison would be located at. Or even if it's a prison to hold Ethereum prisoners, or a prison owned by Ethereum.

I don't know, they don't sound like instances and I don't see how they could be keyed other then that. Maybe you need a rep to open up the relevant quest lines?

Ethereum Prison could be an instance. It'd be pretty easy to implement an entrance via a transporter up at Stormspire.

Nethaera Wrote:With the approach of the next content patch, we thought we would share a few more new additions with you.

Trinkets: New Darkmoon cards

You will now have the chance to find additional Darkmoon cards (Lunacy, Storms, Furies and Blessings) on high level creatures in Outlands, which you can turn in to the Darkmoon Faire to make powerful new Darkmoon card trinkets.

New Graveyards

Two new graveyards have been added to Blade's Edge Mountains.

New Flypaths
New flight points:
Felwood, Emerald Sanctuary (Both)
Ashenvale, Forest Song (Alliance)

New flight paths:
Stormwind <-> Thorium Point
Grom'gol Base Camp <-> Flame Crest
Ratchet <-> Gadgetzan, Astranaar, Brackenwall Village
Brackenwall Village <-> Ratchet, Camp Taurajo, Freewind Post
Thunderbluff <-> Zoram'gar Outpost
Evergrove <-> Toshley's Station
Honor Hold <-> Shattrath

In addition, many flight paths have been adjusted to be shorter, faster flights.

I wonder if this is in regard to choice of waypoints for multi-step flights, or adjusting the exact flightpaths. On Kalimdor in particular there seem to be a lot of annoying "but the destination is THAT way, stupid bird" paths that wheel in immense circles.

My personal theory is that the person who designs all the flight paths is an art person who has not actually played the game, perhaps someone on the team that built the 3D world. This would explain how the flight paths take you on soaring trips that show you the majesty of the 3D world, and have absolutely no respect for your desire to get somewhere in a timely manner!

Well, as they've explained it, some of the flight paths take detours because they don't want you to see "holes" in the world, where it was never actually designed properly for the 3D world. Outland, on the other hand, was designed this way from the ground up.
