old .avi files - TheKingofKewl - 04-13-2010 I've come across some old .avi videos made years ago, (about 7 years ago). They are of course out dated and none of my programs recognize them anymore. Anyone know of any programs that would? Thanks. old .avi files - --Pete - 04-13-2010 Hi, Quote:Anyone know of any programs that would?I don't actually know, but a quick Google of .avi convert gave a nice selection of programs that might work for you. I suspect you'll need to download them and try till you find one that works. --Pete old .avi files - TheKingofKewl - 04-13-2010 Thanks Pete, I'll give that a try! -nt- old .avi files - Jim - 04-13-2010 Hi, :) Try IrfanView 4.25:) http://www.irfanview.net/ "IrfanView is a very fast, small, compact and innovative FREEWARE (for non-commercial use) graphic viewer for Windows 9x, ME, NT, 2000, XP, 2003 , 2008, Vista, Windows 7." DirectShow might be a good place to start. old .avi files - LennyLen - 04-14-2010 Quote:It probably doesn't matter what media player you use, but it's a matter of having the right codecs installed. I've used it as my default media player for years now. old .avi files - Drasca - 04-14-2010 On top of the aforementioned VLC, I use media player classic with the combined community codec pack bundle: http://www.cccp-project.net/ Lastly, my other choice if those ever fail me is Zoom Player: http://www.inmatrix.com/files/zoomplayer_download.shtml old .avi files - swirly - 04-14-2010 I'd put my vote with VLC as the player to use as well. Another useful tool sometimes is a program called GSpot. http://www.headbands.com/gspot/ It will look at a file you supply and tell you specifically what the encoding is. So if you do ever need to know what codecs a file needs you'll have a way to find that info out. |
