Trigger Lightning... with Lasers! - Zarathustra - 04-17-2008 This sounds like the stuff of a Bond film: http://www.eurekalert.org/pub_releases/200...a-lte041008.php ...or a blatant parody thereof. Trigger Lightning... with Lasers! - NiteFox - 04-19-2008 Let's be fair, if you've got a laser powerful enough to trigger a lightning strike, its energy is better deployed by aiming it directly at whatever you want destroyed. It's good they already made Back to the Future, or else there wouldn't be much of a dramatic climax at the end of the movie. Or do I just go the Doc McKay route and mutter "Don't even get me started on that movie..." I think I did the same thing once by saying "Let's go ahead and finish the 9th hole." Conclusion: With a 1 iron I would expect to hit the ball 150 yards with a subterranean flight path.
