Portal: Theramore and Portal: Stonard
The spell visual effects and icons were added in 2.4, it looks like the spells have been added in 2.4.2. We still don't know if it will be a class spell or just an effect used during a quest or something like that, but both portals have a self-teleport and a group-teleport version like all the other mage's teleportation spell ...

Patch 2.4.2 PTR notes - NiteFox - 04-23-2008
Stuff I, myself, am happy about:
+Riding speed trinkets become enchantments
Useful. It's ironic that you pretty much have to buy or make a Riding Crop just to finish the Dragonmaw races which grant you... a Riding Crop. Plus this means that Leatherworkers can actually make and sell more and more Riding Crops, since they'll now become "useful" rather than "convenient".
Lowered reagent cost for Glove Enforcements
I called it. The materials for these things were insane to begin with. While I was swayed around to the idea that folks could do better with extra AL on their gloves rather than stamina the material costs still made them undesirable to make and attempt to resell. Granted, there's no telling what the material cost will be now, but it's gotta be better than fourteen Primal Earth and eighteen Heavy Knothole Leather.
Those pesky Blade's Edge dragons getting a nerf
Oh, how I laughed when I was killed after accidentally dispelling my mount rather than my phase buff during the daily quest while deep in Bash'ir Landing, then flying away after the corpse run to be killed again by a dragon. Granted, they should be a threat to the inattentive pilot, but the way they'd just one-shot you (Unless packing slow fall in any variety) without warning 90% of the time was ridiculous.
Aspect of the Viper buff
Handy.
Tauren sheathed weapons reverting back to their old size
Patch 2.4.2 PTR notes - Gregorius - 04-23-2008
"According to the spells available in the game files, most of the trinkets used to boost your mount's speed have been changed to ... enchantments!"
If this is true, I find this change oddly disappointing, for a weird reason that's not even worth complaining about. I remember when the reward from Gahz'rilla! included the choice of goggles instead of the carrot. If the trinket is being changed to some one-time use item that's obviously going to go on your slow mount...well, I want the goofy looking headpiece back.
The thought of Void Shatter having its cooldown removed kind of freaks me out, but considering what 2.4 has done to the prices on the two items in question, at least on SR (Voids up because of Shatter, Shards up, presumably because of the high number of new enchants required by the badge vendor) this may actually have the effect they wanted. Maybe not! Who knows...
The Glove Reinforcements always struck me as weird, too.
Tauren Weapons are nice, but are they fixing Human females? I'm torn on it, because I *am* entertained by 7-foot two-handers, but seeing priests/paladins/ninjas :whistling:with Shards of the Virtuous practically on the ground is kind of distressing, in a way.

One less bag slot filled with a trinket that I'll probably forget to switch back from when I don't need it. Plus the fact that I, uh, kept that damn Skybreaker Whip for no good reason other than to say I completed the quest. Now it can actually go to good use.
Quote:The Glove Reinforcements always struck me as weird, too.
I made a mistake in my earlier post. Current cost is 14 Primal Earth and 18 Heavy Knothole Leather.
The adjusted cost will be 3 Primal Earth and 4 Leather. Much better.
Patch 2.4.2 PTR notes - Icebird - 04-23-2008
Most exciting thing about the patch for me is the (so-far undocumented, unconfirmed) addition of Purified Shadowsong Amethysts (epic upgrade to the Purified Shadow Pearl). Ever since the 2.4 patch made spirit far more desirable in almost all situations for priests, and to a lesser extent druids, an epic +heal/spirit gem has been a glaring gap in the line-up.

Patch 2.4.2 PTR notes - ryan4nayr - 05-15-2008
One of the more welcome changes that came in last Tuesday is the introduction of the epic PVP trinket that costs 40k honor. The rare PVP trinket that was originally 16983 honor is now costing 8k honor.
With the 2-min. fear trinket more accessible with a weekend's worth of BGs, I'm guessing we'll see more incapacitates in PVE encounters.
I'm still waiting for an update to the BS trinket Glimmering Mithril Insignia for all crafting professions... guess I shouldn't hold my breath.

Do I get refunded my 8k-ish honor for a head start the next time I'm forced to pvp for pve?;)

I know you're tongue in cheek with your response here but there is actually a parallel for once. There is a badge cloak that is way better for PvP than any of the honor cloaks. So for once (and I agree it's usually not this way) PvP folks can ask if they will get a refund on badges of justice for having to PvE for their PvP item since it was reduced in price when Sunwell was added. :) I know I know this fall flats in other ways when you make the comparison. I'm just being tongue in cheek back. :)
But the real reason I wanted to respond was it was interesting to see the game economy mimic the real economy even more. When new products come out, old products often get discounted (the reasons for this can often go beyond marketing and involve production, technology refinement and other stuff but the visible result is the same). I see people ask if they can get a refund since the TV they bought a month ago is now $50 less. It's just interesting to see the same thing in game and I know that I've made decisions on items to purchase in game based on forcasts of something to come down the road. Sometimes I've been happy I waited and got the lower price. Other times I wish I would have purchased the item now to have it during the time I was waiting.

It was always possible to get the rare trinket in a weekend of BGs, I did it on Taha even with raids over that weekend. Once they put back in the turn in of badges for honor, it became easy to net close to 20k honor over the course of a single weekend so long as you played all of the BGs.

Anyone find it ironic that this thread is getting more comments now the patch is live? ¬_¬

I guess I should've worded that more carefully. I really meant, "when killing lazy weekend afternoons before going out for the evening." I can see your point though. In the last AV weekend, I came home from a looong Monday at work & just started thwacking away with my protadin. In ~5 hrs. I came up with a little less than 5k honor & way too many AV marks than I know what to do with. It shocked me.
They didn't have to discount the rare PVP trinket IMHO. All Blizz had to do was make them purchaseable via gold/badges along with the other PVP loot.

!!! Yes! I'd spend 100 badges to get my 20-30 hours of BG time back. *shakes fist at blizzard*
