How to pet a kitty - kandrathe - 07-03-2014 My wife and I had a laugh about this. Our elder cat personifies this cartoon. http://theoatmeal.com/comics/kitty_pet RE: How to pet a kitty - Hammerskjold - 07-03-2014 The belly rub trap is definitely real. A welders glove would be handy to have if one attempts the belly rub on an unknown feline. RE: How to pet a kitty - kandrathe - 07-03-2014 Our elder cat definitely has three belly modes, 1) mischief, 2) murder, 3) bliss... Which one you get is related directly on how recently you've given her tuna fish. Here is my coy little hand shredder... http://imgur.com/vO3bKSq RE: How to pet a kitty - FireIceTalon - 07-05-2014 I love cats, but this is very true. It seems like 9 times out of 10 the belly rub invite has sinister intentions. I've had a few cats that seemed to know their own strength or the sharpness of their fangs, and they would love bite you just enough that you felt it but that it wasn't painful. This is pretty rare though... RE: How to pet a kitty - Hammerskjold - 07-05-2014 (07-03-2014, 07:23 PM)kandrathe Wrote: Here is my coy little hand shredder... We had a cat with black and white markings as well. Looked like a cow pattern. A cow cat. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bicolor_cat His marking is fairly close to the 'cap and saddle' pattern. For the purpose of this post, I'll call him 'Cow Cat'. Long passed away, he was quite the character. His mom was a l33t level mouser. Even stared down, and fought a few racoons. He was raised like a dog. He was mostly a house cat, but definitely inherited his mom's high midichlorian count. His technique for hand shredding during a belly rub trap, was to use your hand\arm as a climbing post. The 2 front legs\paws would grip\claw your hand, the 2 hind legs would rapidly 'climb' in a stationary position. Depending on his mood, this can be alternated with a few kicks. If he was in a very rare bad mood*, or for defensive situations, the effect can be like a feline powered reciprocating saw. Finished off with a kick to launch himself away. * Extremely rare, since he was very gentle and well socialized with humans, and most other cats and animals. Except squirrels. A few squirrels taunted him when he's sitting\sleeping near the back porch window. The squirrels did wisely scram away, when our CowCat came out for his outdoor exercise.
