Eth and ITD - Ice - 03-22-2003 As the title suggests, does the -% defence of Eth and ITD on gear or weapon transfer to the assassins' dragon skills... most notably Dragon Talons? Having troubles connecting with Dragon Talon and was wondering if using an Eth'ed (even if it gets fixed) or ITD weapon would help my situation at all. Thanks. As long as your attack "connected", you'll get the charge-ups(even without damaging the monsters I believe this also works with PIs. I know PIs can get smite-locked, even if they don't take damage) Conversely, you can stack X% chance to cast Y on striking rings/ammys(I seem to remember chance to cast on ATTACK/when struck doesn't carry over) Or even use Blade Shield and some fancy chance to cast items(BS ALWAYS hits, and does okay damage) Although of course, this may not be a "feature", and could change in the next patch. *shrugs* BTW, is anybody else getting a blue background when you type your posts? I'm not really concerned about the chargeups at the moment since my aim was to use the quick triple kick to dish out quick successions of crushing blow and some chances to cast (with blade shield running as well). This would require me to physically hit the monsters in order for the crushing blows to take place. Eth and ITD - Hammerman - 03-22-2003 If the skill uses the normal tohit formula, it'll apply the effects of Eth and ITD to it. Don't know if it does that or not, I've never played an Assassin. And whether the mod is on the weapon or some other item does not make a difference, in case you're wondering about that. Eth and ITD - AtomicKitKat - 03-23-2003 I don't think it does. I recently created a Talon-sin for my brother(JUST got to level 12), and well, the kick seems to use its own formula for calculating AR(in other words, it doesn't change from changing weapons with AR, but it works with skills like Blessed Aim and Might CAN increase kick damage). Then again, the assassin has a lot of bugs/features in its skill trees... If these properties are derived from a non-weapon source, then they will apply to all attacks. The three skills Dragon Talon, Dragon Tail and Dragon Flight do not use the weapon stats (skills.txt, column SrcDam) to calculate the damage, so they will not get any benefit from these two properties. The skill Dragon Claw does use the weapon effect and should end up taking advantage of these properties, but probably only if they are on the prime weapon of the pair. Since such mods if occuring on weapons do not affect the to-hit of Dragon Talon (and tail/flight), I suppose mods which +AR or +%AR on weapon wouldn't work as well right? Or are those different things altogether? Eth and ITD - Hammerman - 03-23-2003 To confirm what I thought, I went and tested it and Eth (STATS_ITEM_FRACTIONALTARGETAC) does work with Dragon Talon even if its only on the weapon. How did you run your tests... just curious :D.I did my tests by running D2 in a debugger, and watching the results when the game called to retrieve the stat. With a Eth'd weapon, and using the Dragon Talon skill, it returned -25. Didn't test for ITD, but I assume it to be the same, should be no difference really. Same goes for STATS_TOHIT. Would have thought that IAS worked with Dragon Talon as well, since there are various speed tables and calculators (namely the german one) that has stats on Dragon Claw/Tail finishers. Not sure though. |
