I have recently bought diablo2 when i went onto b.net there was this gem on the chat room i clicked on it and it said gem activated i clicked again it said gem deactivate what dos this thing do. :P

It doesn't do anything. It's supposed to be possible to get a "Perfect Gem Activated", although that doesn't do anything either.
By the way, you should try to shape up your writing. Proper punctuation and capital letters is the way to go. Anything less, and I can promise you a cold reception by some of the veterans of this board.

On a more serious note, proper spacing and puncuation are the most imporant things to me. I don't like seeing words stuck together with no seperation. Splling is important too, but I can't spel that well anyways.
Of course, it's a bad idea to throw rocks when your own windows are glass, so I'll just leave it at that and hope my windows are still intact. Yikes.

The Chat Gem is non-functional in the stock version of Diablo II, but was activated with the Exapnsion Pack, Lord of Destruction, to lay a 10^-10 factor of chance in game seed generation in USEast Realm servers only. This grants you a random chance that, when playing Act V on the Arreat Plateau, a second cave entrance (other than the on that leads into the ice caverns) will be spawned that leads into a small treasure trove with three glowing chests that generate a greater chance of higher ilvl drops than is warranted to your character's current clvl.
The catch? The entrance to that cave is guarded by the most foul, fetid, horrifying creature ye shall ever set your eyes upon!
