Hah, here you are! I was just doing a Google search a few days ago to find old Diablo stuff, found your site and said "Wow, this person is still updating links to really old stuff! Cool!" Yeah, too bad wayback didn't preserve a lot of the posts, just the index pages.

I think it was through your site that I found Varaya's Guide, which was copied (by permission) into the Plain Guide to Diablo. Varaya's guide is great because it has a lot of the names from the first year of the Diablo Strategy Forum, talking about strategy stuff a full year (I think) before Crystalion and Jarulf came along and told everyone what was really what.

I think it was through your site that I found Varaya's Guide, which was copied (by permission) into the Plain Guide to Diablo. Varaya's guide is great because it has a lot of the names from the first year of the Diablo Strategy Forum, talking about strategy stuff a full year (I think) before Crystalion and Jarulf came along and told everyone what was really what.

There is so much information about Diablo on the web. A lot of it would be lost without archive.org. If you are interested in the oldest stuff check out alt.games.diablo Archive. I have not figured out a way to get to the beginning without clicking a million times. If anyone knows how, I'd love to know as well. It goes way back.

Definitely. Even if it's dead, it's still good for picking over the bones (just found the phrase, hope it's used correctly).

By the way, I'm currently looking for a calculator which can do this:
You type in difficulty, clvl, Dex, Tohit and AC as displayed ingame, the calculator then delivers a list of all monsters on the selected difficulty and your actual Tohit, AC and Blocking chance against each of them.

I think Moriah's AC & To-Hit Calc covers all of that. You have to select which monster you want though, rather than being shown a list. I haven't gotten around to putting it on my site yet, but you can see the original:

Thanks, after fiddling a bit with it, I think it may prove to be handy one day. In an ironman, sometimes you just want to know the exact numbers. ;-)
Would be cool if there was a calculator you could feed with an unidentified item and it returned its possible affixes corresponding the source of the item.

Update! Found out how to see all the corresponding archived pages for a particular URL from web.archive.org! I'll be digging into these eventually. You can adjust the link for any URL they have archived. The captured URL correspond to pages, images, .css, .js, and many more types. In these cases it is mostly posts. I have numbered next to the name how many have been archived.
