I didn't know the name of the mountain until now. At first glance I was wondering who was spamming random gibberish then saw you made the post and was kind of confused. Damn Icelandic names. :lol:

I heard that Hugo Chavez and Fidel think that the Americans placed giant ventilators on the east coast so that all the ashes would blow towards Europe....they are just crazy.:)


No just kidding. Actually we are bothered by it quite a lot. Many people I know got stuck somewhere while on business trips. People have to take 20 hour train rides now.

No just kidding. Actually we are bothered by it quite a lot. Many people I know got stuck somewhere while on business trips. People have to take 20 hour train rides now.

Depending on the amount of ash in the atmosphere, we will probably have some very cold weather over the next year.

Yes. I was supposed to be flying Edmonton-London-Madrid-Montevideo on the 15th. Now I'm stuck in Canada for another couple days - bonus vacation time, but rather unexpected and not a little annoying.

But, what can you do? I can't even pronounce the name to complain about it properly.

Reminds me of Mt St Helens the day she blew and for the week after. Luckily where I lived we got the northern edge of the cloud so got a light dusting (Spokane was right in the patch and had a couple feet of ash drop there). I actually heard it when it below being 500 miles away, sounded like a far off sonic boom (as the Air Force was still breaking the sound barrier over Washington state at the time).

No, I was over in Omak in Okanogan County which is almost straight west of Spokane. We just got grazed by the cloud (maybe an 1/8th of an inch fell there).

All the news for Omak came out of Spokane, so it was interesting watching the news channels there show Spokane and seeing the number of people actually out and wearing masks to deal with the ash. My aunt (my mother's twin) was living in Spokane at the time and she had plenty of stories to tell.

And in northern climes, why do you think so many births happen between September and November... :P Can't get out, so what else you going to do? :whistling:
