Regulations
These regulations are in addition to the forum rules, which you should have read already.
Language
English is the most widely-spoken language here. Internet-chat derivatives such as AOL-speak and "l33t" are not acceptable. This is not to say abbreviations are disallowed, but lazy gibberish such as "wut r u 2 do @ leoik?" will certainly garner unpleasantries. There's no point in communicating if the only thing that can understand you is a toaster.
If English is not your native tongue, your best effort at English is perfectly acceptable. If you have a question but you feel unable to communicate it in English, feel free to post in your native language. Many Lurkers speak languages other than English. Someone may be able to help you.
Cheating
Flamed on sight. Further: Do not post links to pages that carry trainers. This site is read by newbies. They don't need to find such things. If you wish to link to Hen--'s, please send the link in a Private Message.
FAQ
The following questions are asked with such frequency it's amazing everybody on the planet hasn't asked them yet. But seemingly every day someone new pops up and asks us something we could answer in our sleep.
1) What's a mod?
http://lurkerlounge.com/diablo/mods.shtml
2) How can I make a mod?
http://lurkerlounge.com/diablo/mods.shtml#mm
3) What's Hellfire?
The only "authorized" expansion to Diablo. Except Sierra made it. Blizzard refused to give it Battle.net support, though it can still be played online if you download a modified hellfrui.dll or play a mod, such as Hellfire: The Dark. Hellfire and associated mods are playable over Kali.
4) Where can I buy Hellfire?
Unfortunately, Sierra doesn't carry it any more. You'll have to track it down. First, check at your local software store. If it's not there, try internet auction sites (ebay, half.com, amazon.com).
5) How do I beat...?
The Butcher: http://www.arewehavingfunyet.com/diablo/butcher.txt
Leoric: http://www.arewehavingfunyet.com/diablo/leoric.txt
Further discussion of these bosses is fine. But try these resources first -- they're certainly the first thing you'll be linked to.
6) Is there anything that can permanently scar my character?
Black Deaths (Yellow Zombies) can permanently steal 1 Life each time they hit you. Fascinating, Ornate, and Sacred Shrines permanently reduce your maximum mana by 10%. Goat Shrines and Cauldrons have random shrine effects -- including FOS.
7) I'm assembling a guild...
Not here you're not.
8) I just got PKed and it suX0rz!!!!!11111 :( :( :( :( :( :(
http://www.arewehavingfunyet.com/diablo/avoidpk.txt
9) To Jarulf: ...
Please don't post messages to Jarulf. The regulars have read Jarulf's Guide cover to cover. If you have a question about the guide, somebody can answer it. If you have a complaint about the guide, we really don't want to hear about it.
10) I read Prima's Guide and...
Don't read Prima's Guide.
11) Why not?
It contains information that would make you, the newbie, greater than any of us. We cannot allow that to--- Oh, never mind. It contains glaring inaccuracies.
12) Where can I find a good Diablo guide?
