Jewel prefixes will deliver only three forms of benefit: Resistances, Mana, or ToHit%. ToHit% isn't a worry here, so now you'd have to opt between an amulet and rings that either give you Resist All or Mana.
Two good Obsidian anythings (one deliver +38 or above, and the other deliver +37 or above) will give you all the Resistances you need.
You can go with a high-AC shield and Royal Circlet, then fill in your Resists with two jewel slots. However, that leaves only one jewel capable of delivering a Mana boost.
Or you can go with one piece of armor delivering that Obsidian resistance ability, ensuring that you need only one jewel to fill in the remainder. This leaves two jewel slots open for Mana, which should deliver a higher net amount of Mana in the end. One point of trouble: you can give up the comparatively high AC that can be found on a shield by opting for an Obsidian shield (and go with the Mana gain of a Royal Circlet); or you can give up the Circlet for an Obsidian Helm of Whatever and resort back to some kickass high-AC shield (Awesom Tower deliver a base AC of 17 or better).
