Warning #1 - I haven't played my mage yet.
Warning #2 - Skan said he hadn't seen a difference in Rank 1 Frost Nova.

Mages have some major beefs with the new patch.  The theory is that Blizzard didn't like that so many mages were using rank 1 frost nova's to root people with and things like rank 1 arcane explosions to find rogues.

First part - maybe. Second part - bzzt, wrong. Resisted spells take us out of stealth. Along with just about every other effect out there ...

This by itself would be enough to cause much consternation among the masses of mages out there,

but the situation gets worse when one realizes that not all spells have level 60 ranks.  For example, Counterspell is a level 24 skill that never gets an upgrade, and mages are reporting it being resisted all over the place.

I counter with:

You misunderstand.

Spells that max out at, say, your 40s aren't going to be disadvantaged. It's only the truly low ones as I understand it, lower ranks than your highest.

I predict that an emergency patch is on its way...

I give it 25% that there's an actual problem, and 75% that people are just being idiots.
