I don't think it's a matter of not knowing, but rather not caring. Is there really any reason to be using it? I for one enjoy roleplaying, but feel that as long as someone has a decent name and makes an effort to look at things from their character's perspective, it's good enough (and a huge improvement over the average player). Quibbling over the usage of run/walk sounds like the sort of elitism that turns people away from roleplayers.

In escort quests I switch between jogging out in front of the escortee to following behind, depending on what suits the area or helps me watch over them better. If I were walking, I might not be quick enough to either duck unwanted aggro or purposely get aggro from something that the NPC is obviously going to blunder into.
