Did you like Finding Nemo?
As cartoons go Madagascar was great :) Right up there with Monsters and Finding Nemo. Alex the lion is really funny in some parts and the lemurs or whatever the hell they are - heh, I shall reveal no more!
If you like good cartoons, I'd certainly recommend it, if you aren't a fan of animated goodness though, you might want to wait till it comes on TV.
