I bought a hunting rifle the other day, a Remington 710, 7mm Magnum with scope, but maybe I needn't have bothered.

EDIT: was inspired to add a few shots.

San Antonio Internet Game Hunting

I am sure that my wife, who likes venison but is not a fan of going hunting, would find this a suitable option. Even better, for the great Yuppy Hunters out there, one can sit in one's boxer shorts, sipping a hot cup of coffee while listening to the soundtrack to "Last of The Mohicans" (Nathaniel/Natty Bumpo was the Deerslayer, right?) and drop a 6 point buck. This San Antonio "idea man" will even ship the meat, and the head for suitable mounting (ugh, weird visual there) for what I am sure is a reasonable fee.

Right.

And at what point will some drunk in his study, sipping his JD on the rocks, decide that "the attendant" is a more interesting target than the feral hog? Who gets charged with the manslaughter? Will the game wardens care if it is in season? Is there a limit on attendants in Texas? Was the attendant an illegal alien, this is San Antonio after all, and could the legal defense of "protecting the homeland against Al Qaeda infiltrator " be successfully mounted in Bexar County courts? Is the owner of the site an accessory before the fact? After the fact? Does he have boots to match his gloves, since we are accessorizing now?

All ludicrous sarcasm aside, I am unimpressed with how the habits of FPS gaming would translate into something that breaks through the fourth wall . . . and out into Mundania. Real weapons, not pixels.

I am no fan of government interference in our lives, but on this one, my sentiments go with the Fish and Game folks:

Dear Yuppy Hunter (or is it Yuppy Deer Hunter?): Be on site and use your marksmanship skills to drop the deer eating breakfast at the corn feeder, or, go back to shopping for knick knacks in Kerrville and Fredericksburg while escorting your trophy wife -- with whom your obsession with mounting, dead animals, and dear head may well lead to needing legal counsel in due course: in a civil, rather than criminal, case. :P
