European festivals have changed alot over the centuries. In a way Germany does celebrate the remnant of the fall festival, you call it Oktoberfest. No one cares about the vernal equinox, or the harvest anymore, but in some form the old pagan and farm celebrations live on. America is rife with merchandising, so every holiday gets turned into a monetary obligation to someone. We are also that great melting pot, so we have a little of everything here.
