What heatsink/fan do you have on your processor (be specific)? Unless it is super tiny and aluminum (or worse aluminum with a copper base) it should be doing better. My guess is that it is not seated on the CPU firmly. Check to insure that the heatsink is not tilted or only making contact with a only small portion of the chip. You might want to invest in some thermal paste and reseat it just to be sure. If that is not it, then you can use the thermal paste on your new heatsink.
OCZ Ultra 5+ Silver Thermal Compound
tt makes some good CPU heat sinks and some cheap ones. 170F? That is too hot -- How are you measuring the temp?
I'd look for one like this; The key is that it is made from a solid piece of copper.
OCZ "Gladiator 3" CPU Cooler With LED for Socket A/ 370, Model "H-OCZGLAD3LED"
Being a troll means that your posts might incite a violent response. Like "You cannot beat xbox's graphics core speed, ps2 just is crap" :) Or, "only fools and child molesters live in Tampa." :D You might imply that, but it is better to be more diplomatic in how you phrase it.
