The Cold War obviously resulted from two super-powers duking it out, via proxy.I thought it was the ancient greek who invented the toilet. I went to Knossos on Crete and that's what they told me. We also got to see the first drainage system, which was pretty neat.
On the other hand, historically, a single polar world did lead to the rest ganging up on the super power.
