Until our gear is perfect (which may be never), short term gains tend to be more beneficial since you can start being more effective now, and oftentimes saves you a lot more gold than you'd think, and sometimes more than the money saved for waiting for a better deal. Dying a lot costs money, and so does killing monsters slower.
