Hi,

Reminds me of Mt St Helens the day she blew and for the week after. Luckily where I lived we got the northern edge of the cloud so got a light dusting (Spokane was right in the patch and had a couple feet of ash drop there). I actually heard it when it below being 500 miles away, sounded like a far off sonic boom (as the Air Force was still breaking the sound barrier over Washington state at the time).

So, you were north of Spokane at the time? I was in Pullman. I remember watching 'sunset' roll in from the West. I can't describe the feeling, but it was definitely some kind of visceral "That's just WRONG!" Then the reality hit, everything shut down, and all the stores ran out of beer. Nine months later, there was a mini population explosion. :lol:
