You might recall that he initially fought for the Royalist (should we say Spanish?) side during the Revolution ... and yet, he still became president of the independent Mexico numerous times.
But was he any good for Mexico? .
As I said before, about Mexico's cultural incompetence ... he's a fine case study, in terms of his relationship with Mexico writ large.
