Hi,
I'm sure that, in the tens of thousands of years before homo sapiens developed language, the human race went extinct from lack of sex education. It was only after language (and advanced enough language to clinically express the sex act) was developed by this (extinct) race that it was able to make the only known comeback from extinction and progress to overpopulating the world. :whistling:(emoticon added for the interpretively challenged).

Quote:You never stopped to think what exactly cause the dinosaurs to go extinct? Metors, ice age - come on! Plain and simple some parents followed your advice and got too cocky to teach their kids about the birds and the bees (I assume it was called the Archaeopteryxs and the Kalligrafmatidaes) and they stopped reproducing. Sex ed is fundamental to the continued existance of mankind. The tone seems ironic, but not clearly so. The lack of an emoticon adds to the uncertainty. I hope you are being sarcastic, for to assume the opposite pains me. And would lead me to, as usual, give offense.;)

Quote:More seriously, if you want to make sure you have the safe sex talk before they discover sex (I personally think it best to have this talk with them before a 14 year old gets pregnant) you will need to explain sex in some manner.Never said you shouldn't. Just pointed out that, if you will, understanding the mechanic of the sex act is to an understanding of sexuality like knowing the alphabet is to appreciating literature. A trivial sine qua non.
Quote:Modern humans have some motivations to delay children which other species don't (which may also tie in to the taboos). If by 'modern' you mean after the first third of the twentieth century, and by 'humans' you mean urban residents of the industrial nations, then I agree. The more primitive the conditions, the more uncertain life is, the more the necessity of having children soon and often. Even in 'advanced' countries like England and the USA, in rural areas as late as the turn of the twentieth century, marriage at fourteen or fifteen was not uncommon. For women, even urban women, it was the norm.
