Poetry from the Desert Rain
#2
Quote:It's the end of the year
Time for holiday cheer
Decked with seasonal paraphernalia

Let's reminisce, not regret,
(Though I'll try to forget
Pix of Britney Spears' genitalia)

As you put up some lights
Or don green elfin tights
Don't forget that for joy there's a reason

With religion, or not,
We should be glad we've got
Behind us, that election season

I used to complain
From Texas to Maine
That Christmas has gone too commercial

But now spreads a stain
Added holiday strain
Yule politics, getting more controversial

Have we lost all our minds?
Must the reindeer behinds,
Outpace Santa's deer count, once more?

Christmas spirit, please come
(I'll take eggnog, with rum)
And back to us, our sanity restore

As I leave for the slopes
I'll offer high hopes
That vile quibbling, apart shall not rend us

Merry Christmas to you
Happy Holidays too
And such peace as the New Year will send us.

Occhi

Nice poem. Reminds me of everyday .
