I think it is because violence sells (guns), and all the neocons, and christian-extremists own stock of the weapons companies.
If they would however not show this childish old-fashioned scare of people seeing nudity or sex in movies, they would lose their whole powerbase (their voters), and the republican party would never be in power anymore.
