Jarulf's guide is not specific on this! It just says that it destroys monsters for a given physical damage. If I try such a scroll in normal Diablo, quite some monsters in the level remain unharmed.
Since I'd like to know how to use that rare scroll or even rarer staff, could someone tell me what's the area of effect of Apocalypse in Diablo? And how is it nerfed in Hellfire?

From what I remember, the spell only affects monsters that are visible on screen. It should be the same for Hellfire, range-wise. However, in Hellfire, there has to be a clear line-of-sight to the target, so it doesn't work through walls like it does in Diablo.
