This gets the Neat Extension of the Week award:
http://ackroyd.de/googlepreview/

Essentially anytime you do a google search, it can insert a small picture showing what the site looks like so you get a better idea of where you're going before you go there ;)

That's the first firefox plugin I've found that won't also work in mozilla, so it doesn't win 'neat mozilla plugin of the week'.
Just before any other users of a real browser (yes, you've seen it all now, Mozilla eliteists) try ot get it.

Use Firefox? Like Google? - Fragbait - 07-25-2004

Hi,

A few cons, though:

o it makes Google slower - and thereby robs it of its most shining beauty

o virtually no sites (apart from amazon and a few others) support such thumbnailing at this point

o amazon sponsors it, and even admits that their products will be presented in an altered way

I found I did not like it too much. Deinstalled it right away.

Greetings, Fragbait

The thumbnail thing is more of a link problem then a site problem ... the website the extension takes the images from open.thumbshots.org, and that only works for the root ... no subdirectories.

For instance:
http://open.thumbshots.org/image.pxf?url=h...urkerlounge.com works.

But http://open.thumbshots.org/image.pxf?url=h...unge.com/forums doesn't.

I am no longer using the extension either, but for another reason: it adds something to the Statusbar. The area it adds is not even usable yet, and they're wasting my UI for nothing. Anything it could add should be in Extensions -> Options anyway. Only Adblock is permitted to take up UI for me ;)

I could've cranked out a custom userChrome.css command to hide it, but I didn't like the extension that much ;)

There's a plugin for doing a Scirus search from the search bar, and I'm using that.
