Question on patches, item IDs and duping - Phredreeke - 08-24-2006 AFAIK, an anti-dupe measure (albeit rather poor one) was implented in one of the early Diablo patches. Drop two dupes on the floor in the same level and one of them is destroyed. I know that this works by assigning each item its own id. What I now wonder is, are those ids assigned only for items gotten in the patched versions? Will items from the original version be id-less? What happens if you bring two identical (that is same item, same stats), but not dupes, from version 1.00 into a later version, and drop both on the floor? Question on patches, item IDs and duping - LennyLen - 08-24-2006 The item IDs were in the original version. The game just didn't perform the check to make sure that there weren't two of the same item with the same ID. |
