I just noticed the Armory profiles now have tooltips when hovering over items. It shows where the item drops and the drop rates. There is also a tooltip link that searches for upgrades.

Eh, I don't really think so. Mainly because it doesn't give as much information as Thott or WoWhead can provide. Still, I like the idea of the "Find an Upgrade" option; this seems geared towards personal character improvement.
Changes haven't been transferred over to the European servers yet, so I couldn't tell you what I can replace my quest rewards and crafted items with. I think I've only got two monster drops on my person.

You are right, replace is the wrong word. Maybe partially recreate is more to the point. Anyway, I really like this. I liked the armoury before, but now I think it even got better.

I like all the options they are adding. Biggest thing they neeed to do now is speed it up. The sight is soooooooooooo slow it gets on my nerves. This has been a problem with their sight for a while now. Not many people use their calculator over WoWhead because of the speed.
I wonder what kind of other cool options they have in mind.

I would never use the armory for any information that I can get elsewhere. Right now I can look up upgrade information at least 10 times faster on wowhead than I can on armory. Whatever value the armory adds for customizing the information on a per character basis, it means very little to me.
I don't want any new features. I just want them to speed up what they have.

The armorys new function is completely useless.
Not only does it stall any and all of my browsers and just crashes eventually, but the notion of "upgrade" is pretty relative.
Meh, I still cringe whenever I go to the armory, just because it kills my browser.

I looked at the Armory upgrade options for Shalandrax's Shield of Impenetrable Darkness and it returned Gladiator's Shield Wall, Azure-Shield of Coldarra, Aldori Legacy Defender, and... Shield of Impenetrable Darkness;)

Ironically I tried looking up upgrades on there for myself. Seemed like almost all were quest rewards for alliance quests only. I had to go find that on wowhead seeing as they didn't bother to provide that little tidbit of information.

Strangely enough (performance issues aside) I actually liked the suggested upgrade feature.
I had a very relevant list (looking at the top portion) with convenient "diff" capability (i.e. +13 healing -2 MP5 compared to what I have). I'm not sure what they are using to determine upgrade but for my personal case it did a good job.
BTW when I sent email to them about the armory, it was GFrazier that answered.

Well, it just basically does what thottbot would, which is show all the items with the relevant stats. It's not really searching for upgrades, per se. Even though that's the name of the function.

Blizzard added some very nice speed enhancements as of a couple of days ago. It is a noticeable improvement. If you haven't used the wow armory lately because of speed, go check it out at it's new url http://www.wowarmory.com.
