I was playing my sorcerer last night and got to level 16, then I accidental clicked on the stairs and went up them. I was teleporting all over the place to get to level 16 quick and attracted a great deal of monsters around the circle of power and died last night. I restarted in town, headed back down into the labyrinth then, while it was loading, it froze up. I waited five minutes, but it did no good, it stalled. I checked my CD and there was small scratches. I think my moms cdrom caused them. So my game got canceled do to hardware problem, I went to back him up, but I screwed up, and long story short I ended up erasing my warrior level 36.

I hate the idea of using a trainer, just to fix things. Just to get to level 36, naked and start collecting gear again. I don't play Diablo much, mostly Diablo II, now that I have it and Temple of Elemental evil (with Circle of Eight's mod patch).

Should I take a long break and then start over or make him around level 35, with no items or gold or anything and start out in the Church? It takes me a while to level up warriors after level 30. Or should I just take the break and start at level 1 again?

I've decieded to move on from Diablo and move on Diablo two.

In the grand scheme of things, 36 is nothing. I didn't get upset at a lost character until the mid 40's as that was some good effort. Just start a new character and if you've done it enough, you will be at 36 in no time. Even my "throw-away" characters that I just started on whims usually made it to 35 after a few weeks or so of casual gaming before I got tired of them and started a new one ;-)

Accidentally deleted character - Arkain - 06-16-2008

You're basically asking whether you should start a new warrior or not?

I reach the same conclusion from the opposite starting point. Level 36 is virtually everything. By then you have reasonably similar gear to any high level character, stats maxed or close to it, spells getting as high as you will ever bother to get them, and hell/hell is probably starting to get boring. You have essentially "beat the game". It would be a convenient time to delete the character and start over on purpose, much less on accident. I don't think the game ever gets more fun than that first trip to normal/hell (or first trip to hell/hell), when your equipment is haphazardly patched together, your stats are just barely enough, and the random selection of monsters seems like a huge deal.

I agree completely. I usually rename the save files on my non-immortal characters right after they do their 3@30. That way, I can play them again if I ever want to, but I still have room for others. After all, once you triple dot a character (at whatever level), things can only get easier (unless you go scum:)). And once the challenge is gone from a game, so am I.:P

Congratulations on breaking 2000 posts. I can usually do hell/hell in early 30's with a warrior if I got decent enough gear. I did want to get to achieve level 50, and near perfect gear, but I think sometimes these things happen for a reason. I think I'll finish what I wanted to do in Diablo II, play some patched Temple of Elemental Evil, with special thanks to Circle of Eight. Then I'll at some point join the crowd for a time in World of Warcraft.

Sounds good. Meanwhile, these exchanges got me to re-install CD last night. Started a rogue (Rinata = reborn) last night.;)

PS On the 2000 posts: thanks. Would have happened much sooner, but life got in the way. The only more prolific poster was Occhi, and he's slowed way down recently.

Well that is another conclusion I came to years ago as well, but seeing as how he is kind of new I didn't want to rub it in that much =)

But yeah, once I get a 3@30 on most variants or side-classes, it's pretty much time to re-roll and mothball the character unless I feel like being a completionist ;-)

I cant say i fully agree with hell/hell getting boring by 36. Lvl 36 is decent, but there is a GIGANTIC difference in the overall power of a char that is lvl 36 and one that is between say lvl 45-50, both in PvM and PvP. A lvl 36 char can usually do hell/hell, yes, but not necessarily in a routine and comfortable way as one that is in its mid 40's can. Ive found at lvl 36 your stats are just becoming maxed and your items starting to get fairly decent, but rarely at this clvl do you have your so-called "final setup" yet, or even close to it really. Take a lvl 36 warr and a lvl 45-50 warr for example. A lvl 36 warr, even with nice items, is still only gonna get crits 36% of the time, and will need as much as about 148 dex for perfect block on some lvls in H/H. A lvl 45 warr is gonna crit 45% of the time, do about 15-25 pts damage more per hit, as well as needing only 130 dexterity for perfect block. Its little things like these that must be taken into consideration. A lvl 36 char should be owning nm hell fairly well, but hell/hell is quite another story. Chars between the lvls of 45-50 are extremly powerful and will kill much quicker and more efficiently then those in the mid 30's. And you certainly cant be using a lvl 36 char to duel one that is 8, 9, 10 or more lvls higher.

I do agree with the part about starting over though. Reaching 36 is not difficult at all, and anyone with reasonable patience shouldnt have trouble doing it. Id say suck it up and start over King. But please, dont use a trainer. Even if for non malicious purposes, using these is just not a good idea in general for a number of reasons.

Hi,

Exactly. If I want routine and comfortable, I'll pour a glass of good scotch and put on an old Bond film. Or play solitaire. If I'm playing Diablo, I want challenge.

But, of course, YMMV.

Ah, the classics. Not Diablo related, but I am curious, you have a favorite Bond actor, or film?

I creep forward in Hell mode unless I'm in a group. I do like the idea of the pursuit of perfection, and perhaps will try to achieve level 50 someday.

Perhaps someday I will see past level 41 and find out how good the warrior can become.

Matter of age. To me, classic films are black and white and star people like Humphrey Bogart. Of course, Sean Connery *is* Bond, the other actors just play him in the films:) However, the remake of Casino Royal is the best of the Bonds -- back to the edginess of the books.

In your quest to level, you might find this Experience Point Table to be useful.

I had the same problem with my Rogue a few weeks ago, I died, restarted in town, went through a TP and it froze about half-way when it was loading. I did the same thing as you did, tried to wait it out, but nothing. So then I just had to close Diablo by crtl+alt+delete. And I also thought that it was because of a damaged disc. But my Diablo CD is fairly new.

Accidentally deleted character - TheKingofKewl - 06-19-2008

I will be starting over, eventually, at some point. I'm keeping spells simple this time, just to what is most useful for a warrior. This I feel is:

Healing
Teleport
FireWall

One thing I didn't realize is experience received goes up, as level goes up. I thought I would never break 6800 to 7000 from a monster. According to that guide though at higher levels you can get 10k from a monster, if your in the right spot. Which is encouraging to try again.

Town Portal, Stonecurse and others depending on your situation and personal playing style are useful as well.

Yes, I forgot those two. Five spells in total for me then.

This is your best bet KingofKewl. Restoration can get lost files if they haven't been written over yet. You can search for the file name as well. I hope this helps!

Don't let me discourage you from starting a new char though. They are right the game goes downhill from early 30's on.

Yes, if you deleted a character, you cant get it back. START OVER.<_<

I found an old save of a warrior and a sorceror from 2 years ago or more. The warrior is level 30, with crap gear (except a king's saber of something). Might be a good place to get started again, when I do I'll post in the sticky on top to see if anyone wants to play. There has been a small boost in players since the announcement of D3.
