I just can't get enough of this game. It's a pretty cool physics-based game, where the goal is to get the target object into the target area by building fantastic contraptions. You have an assortment of rolling wheels and various connectors to get your contraption to do stuff. The easiest and most straightforward way to get your object to the payload is to just build a moving vehicle and carry it there, but some of the level designs require greater creativity.

Here's a pretty straightforward catapult I built for one of the early levels, which I'm pretty proud of. I don't think I can make it much simpler.

edit: I just made an even simpler catapult! It has just a single wheel, which limits its power somewhat but it got the job done.

Fun for an engineer.

I'd try to do levels multiple ways.

My favorite so far is "slowest pass of a level" with this design titled "stubborn"
http://FantasticContraption.com/?designId=2509408 ~6 or 7 minutes to pass Junkyard.

Haha, I can't believe I watched the whole thing. So excruciating.

This was my perfected try for that level. I went with a bulldozer/snowthrower idea.

Edit: I don't think they thought this level through very well.

This was the hardest I've gotten to so far; Unpossible.

Edit: Ah, then 2 minutes on level 21, U-Turn -- http://FantasticContraption.com/?designId=2520357

Un-possible was the hardest by a long shot. Here's my solution:

U-Turn was really easy. My son just said "do it like you did the upwards pipe one"

Handling had me for awhile. Here is what I did.

I couldn't believe i actually got some kind of solution on my own:P

It's so complicated!

Here is my solution for landing on mars and staying on the planet.

I had one like yours D, but it never stopped spinning.

I had a little trouble with this level and then I built a basic 2 wheel "bouncer" and after seeing it go had to see how it would do in the junkyard. :)

http://FantasticContraption.com/?designId=2564123

Simple and silly but it worked. :)

I then had to go watch Conc's crazy thing. :)

Once you get through the game yourself, check out the forums. People there are insane.

Green Champion - all puzzles

Green is no moving wheels. Champion is the target stays in the goal area. Green solutions tend to revert to gravity based catapults, a lot.

Hahaha! I love it. If the game had sound effects, I'd love to hear the "thunk!" when it lands.

I kinda wussed out and went with a catapult contraption that just grazed the target area and didn't even come close to touching the planet:(

http://fantasticcontraption.com/?designId=2564123

I should spend more time on that one to come up with something more elegant.

Fanastic Contraption! - kandrathe - 10-05-2008

Ok, last one for today. Awash, and I wanted to try a tank. It looked dicey for a moment. If you get anything under the tracks you tend to end up sliding all the way back off the end.

I re-used the tank idea as well. Mine did a little better than yours.

I fixed it a bit, its a bit faster. At least it's repeatably successful, and has an exciting finish.

I curse you! I can't stop playing this, even though I have no engineering intuition whatsoever.

I am truly awful... my favorite is when I am trying to do something and it doesn't work at all... but I still win.

http://FantasticContraption.com/?designId=2627205

I also tend to get obsessed with making an unsound design work, even if it takes a long time:
