Tristr.am back online ^.^ - FireIceTalon - 12-30-2012 08:05 PM

http://www.tristr.am/

Was down for awhile, but back online and better than ever with many new features - including search functions and chat.

It looks like tristr.am is offline. I've only tried in the past two weeks, so I'm not quite sure how long it has been down. Lets hope for the best, and if somebody has a contact of the creators of the site, please send me a message. I have an account on a web hosting provider and I might be able to help.

It's been down for at least a week as far as I know, but maybe longer. Pretty sure Gore and co. are in talks with Shade about transferring the site over to him.

I don't have much time for Diablo anymore as I am working full time and have a new girlfriend but would be nice to see the site back up. I still log on for the casual game or duel here and there.

And, it's back up. Finally.

Would it ever be likely that the source for DiabloStats and the script for Tristr.am be open-sourced in order to allow others to do the same? For example, it'd be great if PvPGN could have the same capabilities. Doesn't have to be right away but I just don't want to have that function disappear one day. Also if we're thinking of making our own private server it would be a nice feature to have that sets us apart. I would work with HarpyWar for that as they have extended PvPGN farther than it was designed to and would be the experts in my opinion.

My 4 cents.

wouldnt making DStats open sourced expose the uploaded chars item codes? I definitely do not want anyone knowing the codes to my gear for obvious reasons.

Maybe as it currently stands wouldn't be a great idea, depending on how it's made. It could be made encrypted for the storage of character stats on the server. Is that what the concern's about? There could be a key that makes each server unique.

Not the char stats, but the item codes. Every item you find has its own unique code (think if it as a sort of virtual DNA for each and every item). They usually looks something like this for example: 1E56458A91. No two items, even the same exact item with the same stats, will ever have the same code unless they are dupes. This is how scanners (such as Diablo Guard) are used to check people are suspected of cheating, by checking the codes of said peoples gear against a common dupes list. This isn't a big deal, but almost everyone on Trist is legit, and should the codes on their gear be made public or accessible in some way, this would allow anyone, with the right program (such as an item editor), to re-create those items by typing that code into it, and thus having illegal copies of the original owners items.

I am not sure if making the source code for DStats would do this, but I suspect it could somehow.
